Cybersecurity

Audits, access control and monitoring for what you already run.

What this is for

Software already running, and the data people have trusted it with. Security work on a live system is mostly unglamorous: knowing what you run, knowing who can reach it, keeping it patched, and being able to restore it. Most incidents arrive through those rather than through anything sophisticated. What comes out is a ranked account of what is actually exposed, and the changes that close the ones worth closing.

What it covers

  • Security audits

A review of what is running, how it is configured and what can be reached from outside, written so that somebody who is not a specialist can act on it.

  • Access control

Who can reach what, reduced to what each person and each system genuinely needs — including the accounts that were never removed.

  • Backups and recovery

Backups that exist, that are held somewhere separate, and that have been restored at least once to prove they work.

  • Monitoring and alerts

Notice when something changes or fails, reaching a person rather than a dashboard nobody has open.

What you end up with

  • An audit written in plain language

Plain findings with the reasoning shown, rather than a scanner report pasted into a template.

  • Findings ranked by what they actually risk

Ordered by consequence and likelihood, so limited effort goes to the things that matter first.

  • Access tightened to least privilege

Permissions reduced to what each account needs, and dormant accounts removed rather than left in place.

  • A backup proven by restoring it

Restored into a working state, because a backup that has never been restored is only an assumption.

What we need from you

  • What you run, and where it runs

An inventory, even an incomplete one. Systems nobody remembers are a common finding in their own right.

  • Who currently has access to it

Including former staff and outside suppliers, which is usually where the surprises are.

  • What would hurt most if it were lost

The data and the systems the business could not operate without, so the work is aimed at those first.
